No, it is not necessary to have a referral from another doctor to see Dr Will Cranwell. However, having a current referral will enable you to receive substantial rebates from Medicare towards the costs of your consultation and many related procedures.
Referrals from general practitioners are generally valid for 12 months specific to the condition you have been referred for. Referrals from other specialists are generally valid for 3 months.
Only holders of a current Australian Medicare Card are eligible to receive a rebate of medical expenses under the Australian Medicare system when they are treated privately Dr Cranwell. However, even if you do not have a Medicare card, you can still see Dr Cranwell for a consultation.

Consultations
All consultations with Dr Cranwell are thorough and a professional fee is charged. Fees cannot be published online - please contact Dermatology Clinics Australia for further information.
A referral from your local doctor is advisable but not essential. After your initial consultation with Dr Cranwell we encourage you to return to answer any questions and follow-up progress.
Surgery Costs
You will be provided with a total cost estimate after your consultation with Dr Cranwell. For some procedures including skin cancer surgery, laser treatments, injections and phototherapy, item numbers may be applicable and Medicare rebates are available.
Dr Cranwell’s professional fee is calculated according to the duration and complexity of your requested procedures. This fee includes the costs for performance of your treatment to the highest possible standard and also your routine after-care.
